Last updated: September 8, 2026. This policy explains what information BlockWest Media LLC (“BlockWest”, “we”) collects when you use blockwest.co and our related services, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Information you give us. Your email address when you subscribe to a newsletter, and whatever you include when you contact us or leave a comment.
- Information collected automatically. Standard web logs and analytics data such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring site and approximate location, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
- Comments. If you comment, we collect the comment, your name and email, your IP address and browser user agent to help with spam detection. An anonymized hash of your email may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it.
How we use it
- To operate, secure and improve the site and understand which coverage readers find useful.
- To send newsletters you asked for. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
- To respond to your messages, correction requests and tips.
- To detect spam, abuse and security threats.
Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies for site functionality, to remember preferences, and for analytics. Analytics on BlockWest are provided by Jetpack (Automattic). We do not sell your personal information and we do not run third-party advertising networks that track you across sites. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; some features may not work as a result.
Newsletters
Newsletter subscriptions are managed through Automattic’s WordPress.com subscription service. Your email address is stored with that provider under its privacy policy. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.
Embedded content and links
Articles and pages may embed content from other sites, such as YouTube videos, X posts or charts. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other site, which may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with the embed. Market data is loaded from third-party providers such as CoinGecko through our own servers.
Who we share data with
Service providers that help us run BlockWest (hosting, email delivery, analytics, spam protection and security), under contracts that limit their use of your data to providing those services. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights, users or the public.
Retention
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognized. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs and analytics are kept for a limited period for security and reporting. Account data for registered users (if any) is kept while the account exists.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us through the contact page. We will respond within the time required by applicable law.
Children
BlockWest is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
